The main difference lies in how the products are made and how they perform in your hair.

Water-based Reuzel is, as the name suggests, water-based. This means the product is easier to wash out of your hair and often feels a bit lighter. It's easy to apply, distributes well through the hair, and usually gives a tighter, more modern finish. Water-based products are ideal if you style your hair every day and don't want too much hassle when washing it out.

Oil-based Reuzel is the classic variant, made from oils and waxes. These products stay in your hair longer and provide more hold and control. They are a bit heavier to use and slightly more difficult to wash out, but in return, they often hold their style longer and give a more traditional barbershop look.

Reuzel Red, Blue, and Green are three of the brand's most popular pomades, but each offers different benefits. The main differences lie in hold (strength), shine, and how flexible your hair remains.

Reuzel Red Pomade (water-based)

Reuzel Red provides a medium hold with high shine. This is a typical "neatly styled" pomade. It's ideal for classic looks that need to appear well-groomed and sleek, without feeling stiff or hard.

Reuzel Blue Pomade (water-based)

Reuzel Blue is stronger than Red, offering a firm hold with a clean shine. This is one of the most commonly used products in barbershops because it provides a lot of control without being difficult to work with.

Reuzel Green Pomade (oil-based)

Reuzel Green is the more classic variant. It provides a medium hold with a natural shine and stays in the hair longer than water-based products.

If you have fine or thin hair, it's all about one thing: volume without making your hair heavy or flat.

In the barbershop, we often see that fine hair quickly collapses if it gets products that are too heavy. That's why lighter Reuzel products usually work best.

The best choices are often:

• Reuzel Fiber Pomade (for volume and texture)
• Reuzel Clay Matte Pomade (for a dry, natural look)
• Reuzel Blue (in small amounts, if you need more hold)

What's important: for fine hair, "less is more" almost always applies. Too much product quickly makes it heavy and greasy.

What we often do in the chair is blow-dry the hair well first for volume and then finish it very lightly with product. This way it stays airy, but still in style.

Thick hair usually has the opposite problem: it doesn't want to stay put.

That's why you need products with more grip and control.

These are often the best choices:

• Reuzel Blue Pomade (strong hold, sleek and controlled)
• Reuzel Pink Grease (extra strong hold, classic barber work)
• Reuzel Green Grease (flexible, but firm enough for control)
• Reuzel Extreme Hold (for truly stubborn or heavy hair)

With thick hair, you can also use a bit more product, as the hair "absorbs" it better. In practice, it's all about distribution: warming it up well in your hands and applying it evenly prevents clumping.

Using it is simple, but in the barbershop, we often see it being done incorrectly.

Here's how it works best:

1. Start with a small amount (truly less than you think)
2. Rub it thoroughly between your hands until it becomes pliable
3. Distribute it first through your hands and then through your hair
4. Work from back to front and ensure everything is lightly covered
5. Then style with your hands or a comb

Important detail:
You can always add more, but getting too much in is difficult to correct.

What we often do in the chair is style the hair first and only then use product for the finish. That gives the most beautiful and natural result.

This mainly depends on whether you're using water-based or oil-based products.

Water-based Pomade:
You can usually wash this out with just shampoo and warm water. One good wash is often enough.

Oil-based Pomade (like Green and Pink):
These are a bit stronger and stay in your hair better. For these, you usually need a bit more:

• first, massage in shampoo thoroughly
• possibly wash twice
• rinse well with warm water

In the barbershop, for oil-based products, we often use a stronger cleansing shampoo to properly remove everything.
